Be a guest on the podcast

Thanks for considering appearing on Stories From the Road as a guest.  The process for working together is straightforward and simple, and I’ll do my best to make it as transparent as possible.  To get started, please see the information below.

This link will allow you to download the preproduction worksheet.  This helps you craft your story and organize your thoughts.

In a separate email you’ll receive a release.  Even though you are relinquishing creative control, I always let guests preview the podcast before releasing it and I’m more than happy to go back and make minor adjustments.  For example, a recent guest sent the following and I was happy to make all these edits:

  • 10:37: remove the lieutenant's name, Lieutenant XXXX. After further review, I think it’s best that we not mention him.
  • 12:18: please remove my reference to “fellow Italian American”. Some people may take it the wrong way.
  • 17:58:  please remove my “toothpick” comment. Some people may not be able to draw the Telly Savalas reference, and again, take it the wrong way.
  • 30:19: please remove my subtle comment “real detectives”, again some guys might take offense to that.

I’m going to send a USB microphone to you, via Amazon (unless you have one).  If you would, please send me your address so I can get that out this week. storiesfromtheroadpodcast@gmail.com

We’ll decide on a date for the interview via Riverside.fm (this is the platform I use to record podcasts) Please use the CALENDLY link to choose a date.  If the days and times listed don't work, email me and we can figure something out — I can work around your schedule.

Between now and the interview, make notes, consider what you want to share and how you want to share it.  Typically, a guest tells the story and I interject minimally, but we can also do an interview if you aren’t comfortable talking without prompts.  If you have multiple stories, we can do multiple interviews over several days.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I’ll get that microphone out to you as soon as you send your address.
